Alameda County Public Health Department, Nutrition Services is proud to continue the sugar education efforts we started back in 2007 when we first launched the Soda Free Summer campaign. Through continued partnership with Bay Area sugar savvy counties, we have inspired thousands of residents and hundreds of organizations to make a lasting commitment to good health by reducing or eliminating sugar sweetened beverages and sugary foods. And we’re not stopping now.
We invite you to check out the newest Bay Area campaigns below. These resources aim to educate folks about both the harmful effects of sugar and the marketing tactics used by the sugary beverage industry. Moreover, we hope they inspire policy changes that will increase access to healthy drinks, limit marketing to kids and, provide funds for sugary drink education.
Last but not least, we continue to be proud of the work done by our public health partners across the nation. Check it out: from the West Coast to the East Coast and all areas in between, Americans are getting sugar savvy and taking action to create healthier communities!
That’s right – no matter what these campaigns are called, we’re all on the same team and we want YOU to join us. It’s time.

As our friends at BANPAC say, “Pledge the Practice! Pass the Policy!” Advocating for and passing simple soda free policies is easier than you might think.
